Andrew has his new toy - the moth trap - on loan so I have decided to learn something new as well. After a really interesting field workshop at the BNA conference I have decided this will be Bryophytes - on the basis that I might as well start with small things and work my way up!!
Armed with my new copy of 'How to begin the study of Mosses and Liverworts' By June Chatfield (foreword David Bellamy)I am going to learn about these interesting plants. Dr Ken Adams suggests studying 1-2 per week and on this basis reckons it will take about 3 years to become knowledgeable in the subject. I have a short attention span and new facts seem to push the older ones out of my poor overworked brain so we shall see how it goes! When looked at through a microscope these usually overlooked plants become very beautiful and they are something that before Saturday I had never given a thought to.
If anyone has any knowledge or would like to join me in learning about these plants speak up!
